Socially Responsible Investment [SRI]
Mergence Investment Managers is among the leaders in socially responsible investment in South Africa. As such, we have been a signatory to the United Nations Principles of Responsible Investment [UNPRI] since 2008. By incorporating environmental, social and governance [ESG] issues into our investment process, we encourage the companies we invest in to strike a balance between profits and being socially responsible, and to actively manage their environmental impact while maintaining high levels of corporate governance standards.
We are committed to assist in the building of a better society and to play our part in making this happen. Some of the highlights of our efforts to do this include:
- Members of the Carbon & Water Disclosure Projects;
- As the first Global Impact Investing Rating System [GIIRS] rated Pioneer Fund in South Africa, we incorporate impact measurement based on Impact Reporting & Investment Standards [IRIS] into or investment process;
- Committee membership: ASISA - Responsible Investing & Code for Responsible Investing South Africa [CRISA];
- Contribute and support AfricaSIF initiatives;
- Launch SRI suite of products which focus on providing impact investing throughout Southern Africa via senior debt instruments, as well as promoting the reduction of carbon emissions via screened equity investments.
